Biography:

My early research was in the field of geothermal reservoir engineering. This looked at the response of reservoirs to injection of cold water, and how this could lead to increased production from these alternative energy sources. The upshot of the research programme, of which I was a part, is that 20 years later there are now significant infrastructure projects in Northern California with pipelines carrying waste water to the Geysers reservoir.

My research since 2000 has been in the field of low energy natural ventilation. This was initially conducted at the BP Institute. This has led to a breakthrough in ventilation strategy, the filing of a patent, and the formation of a multi-million pound venture capital backed spin-out company called Breathing Buildings. The company was acquired by Volution Group in December 2016.
