Dr Asal Bidarmaghz

Research Associate

Dr Asal Bidarmaghz received her PhD in Civil Engineering (Geothermal technologies) from The University of Melbourne, Australia in March 2015 and her M.Sc. (2008) and B.Sc. (2004) in Mining Engineering (Extraction) from University of Tehran, Iran. Prior to joining University of Cambridge, Asal was working as a Research Fellow with the Geotechnical Engineering group at The University of Melbourne, Australia specifically focusing on numerical simulation of energy geo-structures and the possibility of the thermally efficient integration of geothermal technologies into different subsurface structures.

Research Interests

Dr Asal Bidarmaghz is a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, the University of Cambridge since Oct 2017. Asal has got expertise in shallow geothermal technologies, Multiphysics modelling of the ground and underground spaces with the focus on porous media, heat transfer, fluid flow and subsurface flow. Her current research is on Translucent Cities and how to leverage underground spaces to yield city-scale energy efficient solutions working with multi-disciplinary Energy Efficient Cities Initiative (EECI) group and Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC).
