This year, 348 new students embarked on the Structural Design Course. Working in pairs, students designed and built structures, which were then tested to destruction. Bridges and cantilevers, straight and skewed were judged on design, cost and strength.
We were fortunate to have Bill Baker and Ian Firth, two world-renowned engineers, to give out the prizes.
